The Story

Over the course of his career, Burt Glinn photographed many a famous face, but perhaps none so familiar as that of Lesley Hornby, the model better known as Twiggy. The wide-eyed face of the 1960s London fashion scene, Twiggy is captured here against a stark black backdrop that allows her iconic features to take centre-stage. Glinn’s ability to capture the essence of his models established him as the favourite photographer of many celebrities around the world.

Burt Glinn became an associate member of Magnum in 1951, along with Eve Arnold and Dennis Stock, before becoming a full member in 1954. He served as Magnum’s president twice.
